Sea Island derives its name from the South Carolina region where it was once grown, however, Gossypium Barbadense (its proper name) was always grown and cultivated in the Caribbean and continues to be cultivated in the West Indies, as US production ceased in the 1920s. Scandia Home partnered with WISICA, the West Indies Sea Island Cotton Association, who inspects every single kilo of cotton and guarantees purity.
